Cloudy Bay is named after the bay at the eastern end of the Wairau Valley; the gateway to the Marlborough region.
The bay was named by Captain James Cook in 1770. The region was in flood at the time - the sediment being washed into the bay made it appear cloudy.
A soft palate entry supplemented by chalky tannins builds structure towards an intense, brooding finish.
Ideal food pairings: Duck with wild cherry jus Venison carpaccio Tuna sashimi with soya sauce Blue cheese
